What does the Memory Clinic offer?

Investigation and Assessment

  • Cognitive Expert Consultant – Your assessment begins at 25 Harley Street with our Geriatrician Consultant and cognitive specialist. During this appointment, they will take time to understand your symptoms and concerns, carry out a detailed clinical history, and perform a thorough physical examination.
  • Cognitive Blood Test Panel and Urinalysis – A comprehensive set of tests to check for common,  treatable causes of memory problems such as vitamin deficiencies, thyroid imbalances, infections, or other underlying health conditions. This includes a blood panel and urinalysis to give a fuller picture of your overall health.

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) – A simple, non-invasive test to check your heart rhythm, helping to identify any cardiovascular issues that could be affecting brain function.

  • Cognitive Testing – A structured set of verbal and written tasks that assess key areas such as memory, thinking, attention, and language, providing an objective measure of your cognitive health.

  • Advanced Brain Imaging – High-quality imaging, such as an MRI scan, is used to assess the structure of your brain and identify any signs of neurodegeneration or other abnormalities that may be causing your symptoms.

Your MRI will be carried out at our state-of-the-art Imaging and Diagnostic Centre at 9 Harley Street, part of our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care.

If an MRI isn’t suitable for you, we’ll be happy to discuss alternative imaging options as part of your assessment.

After Your Diagnosis: What Happens Next

Once your assessment is complete, you’ll have a dedicated feedback consultation with our memory specialist to review your results and explore the next steps together.

During this conversation, we’ll offer clear, personalised guidance on:

  • The best ways we can support you and/or your loved one

  • How to lower your risk of Alzheimer’s and other dementias through a ‘brain-healthy’ lifestyle

  • Whether cognitive enhancing medication may be a beneficial option for you

With your consent, we’ll also share a comprehensive report with your GP, ensuring continuity of care and a joined-up approach to your ongoing support.

Whether for yourself or a loved one, the patients journey doesn’t end with a diagnosis. Many of our patients choose to stay connected with us for ongoing support and care. We provide regular follow ups to help manage symptoms and ensure they receive the care they need. We’ll be here every step of the way.
