What is a CT colonography scan for?
Colon cancer (also known as bowel cancer) is the most common cause of cancer death amongst non-smokers. However, it is easily treated if picked up early on. It is therefore important to get screened regularly for any signs of cancer, particularly if you are over the age of 45.
We offer a CT colonography service at our fantastic imaging department in central London. A CT colonography is a considerably less invasive and disruptive option than a traditional colonoscopy. The scan can very accurately identify signs of bowel cancer, and can also identify its precursor, the advanced colonic polyp. While this polyp is benign, its removal will ensure that it cannot develop into colon cancer.
