Health Screening Private Health Checks London and Essex

What is a health screening?

A health screening is a series of imaging tests designed to detect changes in the body early on to prevent, rather than treat, the onset of disease. This ensures that the right treatment is given at the right time, and our doctors will be able to give you advice on reducing the risk of developing further complications.

For those with a family history of disease, or those just wishing to put their mind at rest, these health screening tests are a great way to provide insight into your overall health and to enhance your everyday wellbeing.

Urinalysis
This is a urine test to screen for a wide range of disorders including a urinary tract infection, kidney disease and diabetes. If an abnormality is found, results are analysed in conjunction with results from other diagnostic tests to help identify the underlying problem.
ECG
An ECG tests the rhythm and electrical signals in your heart to identify any abnormalities.
Ultrasound of Abdomen & Pelvis
This ultrasound assesses organs such as the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen, checking for lumps, cysts, aneurysms and other abnormalities. Ultrasound is safe, non-invasive, and does not use ionising radiation.
CT Chest
This is a CT scan designed to identify any lung abnormalities. The scan is taken from the top of your shoulder to the bottom of your chest and only takes about 20 seconds. This can detect any damage to lungs or signs of lung cancer.
CT Calcium Score
Using the same CT scan as above, we will check your calcium deposits in the coronary arteries, as this can cause blockages. From this we can establish your risk of developing heart disease.
MRI Head
This MRI scan of the head will look at the brain, blood vessels within the brain, and the carotid artery. It can detect any blockages or strange growths within the brain.
Breast Examination
A physical breast examination is used to detect any changes or abnormalities in your breast that may be a sign of breast cancer.
Ultrasound Breast
A breast ultrasound produces images of the internal structures of the breast to look for any lumps or signs of breast cancer. For women under the age of 45.
Scrotum and Testicular Exam
A scrotum and testicular exam is carried out to check for any lumps or abnormalities that may be a sign of testicular cancer.
Ultrasound scrotum (men only)
A scrotum ultrasound produces images of the testicles and surrounding areas to identify any lumps or mass that may be a sign of cancer.
CT Colonography
A CT Colonography is a CT scan of the bowel to check for bowel cancer and its precursor, the advanced colonic polyp. Similar to a traditional colonoscopy, it is much less invasive, requires less preparation, and you can return to your everyday activities immediately afterwards.
Full Body Cancer Scan
This MRI scan covers your whole body from head to knee, and can identify very small early signs of cancer that are usually hard to detect, such as liver, pancreatic, renal, ovarian and brain. This early detection makes the chance of successful treatment significantly more likely.
DEXA
A DEXA scan tests your bone density and strength to diagnose conditions like osteoporosis or determine your risk of developing them.
Sexual Health Screen
An STI screen will use blood tests to check whether you have any sexually transmitted diseases.
Mammogram (women only)
A mammogram is used for women over the age of 45, and uses X-rays to check for cancers that may be too small to feel.
Smear Test (women only)
A smear test is recommended for young women, and checks the cervix for signs of HPV, which is a common infection that in some cases can lead to cervical cancer.
Eye Health Test
A comprehensive examination of the eyes using a number of diagnostic techniques to establish the cause of any problems.
24-hour Blood Pressure Monitor (if clinically indicated)
A 24 hour blood pressure monitor will need to be worn over a 24 hour period, and will measure your blood pressure at different times across this period.
Echocardiogram (if clinically indicated)
An echocardiogram (or echo) is a type of ultrasound scan that looks at the heart and surrounding blood vessels, assessing the pumping capacity of the heart chambers to diagnose or monitor certain heart conditions.
MRI Prostate (men only) (if clinically indicated) 2 parts and contrast
