CT Scanning

A CT scan (sometimes called CAT scan) is a painless x-ray test that helps clinicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. CT imaging uses special x-ray equipment to produce a number of images of the inside of the body.

We offer an expert-led CT scanning service for patients who have been recommended to get a scan by a doctor. This could be to diagnose conditions such as tumours, blood clots, infections or bone and muscle disorders, or to monitor diseases or cancer.

MRI Scanning

MRI scans use magnetic fields and radiowaves to generate detailed images of the inside of your body. Unlike CT and X-ray scans, MRI uses no harmful radiation, and is entirely painless and non-invasive.

You may have been advised to get an MRI scan for a number of reasons, but they are usually used to help diagnose conditions, plan treatments, and assess the effectiveness of previous treatment.

X-Ray Examination

An X-Ray scan is a quick and painless to view the inside of your body. They can detect issues such as damaged bones, joint problems, scoliosis and heart and lung disease. They often provide useful guidance to doctors and surgeons about the best way to treat your condition.

Our X-Ray service at 9 Harley Street is carried out by skilled and experienced radiographers who will provide you with fast and accurate results.

X-Ray Examination

Ultrasound Scanning

An ultrasound scan uses high frequency sound waves, and is commonly used for any soft tissue area in the body. You may be recommended to get an ultrasound scan to diagnose health conditions or to help inform appropriate treatment.

We offer faster appointment times and can find diagnostic solutions all in one scan. With the best technology available, you will receive reliable and accurate results.

Ultrasound Scanning

Dexa Scanning

DEXA (or DXA) is short for dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. DEXA scanning is used to test bone density, an important factor in diagnosing osteoporosis and assessing bone health.  DEXA scanning is usually used to assess the risk of osteoporosis and fracture but it can also be used to measure body composition including body fat.

It is a painless scan which can usually be done in less than 30 minutes while lying comfortably on an open scanner. The scan does use X-rays but the dose for the patient is extremely small often less than daily background levels of radiation.

Early Pregnancy Scanning

We recognise that early pregnancy can be a worrying time and so we are happy to carry out scans to alleviate anxiety. In most situations, a reassurance ultrasound scan provides the peace of mind needed to enjoy the pregnancy.

CT Colonography

A radiologist performs a CT colonograpy by using a CT scan to highlight potential abnormalities within the colon and bowel area. Virtual colonoscopy is less invasive than a traditional colonoscopy.
