Memory Problems and Dementia

Memory Problems can range from Mild Cognitive Impairment to Dementia which is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life.

Alzheimers’s disease is a specific neurodegenerative disease and the most common cause of dementia and other types of dementia include Lewy Body Dementia ,Frontotemporal Dementia and Vascular Dementia.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the central nervous system.

Your neurologist will look for abnormalities, changes or weakness in your vision, eye movements, hand or leg strength, balance and co-ordination, speech and reflexes.

Parkinson’s Disease is the second most common neurodegenerative condition after Alzheimers’s Disease and affects 1 in 500 people in the UK currently with the number of people with  the condition increasing all the time  as the population ages.

It is a condition that is often not recognised and therefore underdiagnosed as many of the symptoms are attributed to ageing and is  very treatable with range of medications and treatment strategies.

Headaches & migraines

We understand the distress which can result from headaches and migraines. The impact it has on mood, family, work and quality of life. At Phoenix Hospital Group we offer a one stop clinic to see a consultant Neurologist who will diagnose the issue and discuss a suitable treatment plan.

Also a focus of the clinic is on brain health strategies with nutritional and lifestyle interventions which is of particular relevance in the diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment.
