What’s included in my fatigue blood test?

Our fatigue blood test panel can identify the most common reasons for tiredness and low energy. It provides a detailed look at your overall health by checking for vitamin and mineral deficiencies, hormone imbalances, inflammation and how well organs such as your thyroid, liver and kidneys are functioning.

Full blood count (FBC) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)

This test looks at the number and quality of your red and white blood cells, which may suggest conditions like anaemia or infection. ESR is a marker of inflammation in the body and may point to underlying causes of fatigue, such as chronic inflammation or autoimmune conditions.

Thyroid hormone (TSH, FT3 and FT4) profile

Your thyroid plays a vital role in regulating energy, metabolism and mood. These tests measure thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), as well as free T3 and free T4 hormones, to assess whether your thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism) or overactive (hyperthyroidism), both of which can lead to persistent tiredness.

Iron profile

Iron is essential for making haemoglobin, the part of red blood cells that carries oxygen around your body. It also plays a key role in energy production and keeping your cells healthy. We check your iron levels to ensure you have enough for proper oxygen transport and energy. Low iron can cause tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath and difficulty concentrating.

Ferritin test

Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in your body. Low ferritin levels are a common indicator of iron-deficiency anaemia, which can result in extreme fatigue, shortness of breath and difficulty concentrating.

B vitamins profile

Vitamin B12 and B9 (folate) are essential for red blood cell production and energy metabolism. Deficiencies in these may lead to fatigue, brain fog and mood changes.

Kidney, liver and muscle health (U/E, LFTs, CK and LDH) profile

We check your kidney and liver health by measuring urea and electrolytes (U&E), which are natural substances in your blood. Urea is a waste product from breaking down protein, and electrolytes like sodium and potassium help control fluid balance and nerve function. These levels show how well your kidneys are working. We also perform liver function tests (LFTs) to see how your liver supports energy, removes waste and keeps your body healthy.

In the same panel, we check levels of creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), two enzymes that can indicate muscle stress or damage. Raised levels may be linked to inflammation or muscle conditions that contribute to persistent fatigue.

Calcium, phosphate, uric acid and glucose test

These tests assess essential minerals and your blood glucose (blood sugar) levels. Imbalances in calcium and phosphate or unsteady glucose levels can all contribute to low energy, irritability and poor concentration.

Lipid profile

This test measures your cholesterol and triglyceride levels, offering insights into your heart health.
