Professional Profile

The Sydney Teaching University Hospital, where Dr. Mubarak worked, served as a leading tertiary pain referral center for treating pelvic pain in women. Here, she collaborated with neurology specialists as part of a pain management team, accumulating vast experience in managing patients with chronic pain and neurologic disorders, including conditions such as multiple sclerosis, post-stroke pain, and headaches. Dr. Mubarak’s expertise further deepened in the complex field of opioid and methadone conversion in the context of pain, thanks to her training with Drug and Alcohol consultants during her fellowship program in Australia.

Driven by her passion to enhance her skills in pain management, with a particular focus on cancer pain and neuromodulation, Dr. Mubarak pursued another pain fellowship program in Leeds in 2016. In 2017, she extended her commitment to pain management to the United States, where she successfully completed the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) examination. With a medical career spanning across Ireland, the UK, Australia, and the USA, Dr. Mubarak’s special interests include the management of pelvic pain conditions such as endometriosis, prostate-related pain, pelvic inflammatory disease-related pain, penile pain, and vulvodynia pain.

In addition to her specialisation in pelvic pain, Dr. Mubarak possesses expertise in various other areas, including Costochondritis, non-cardiac chest pain, post-shingles pain, cancer-related pain, and the treatment of neuropathic knee and abdominal pain following surgery. She has performed thousands of spinal nerve roots and facet injections, establishing herself as an expert in her field.

Dr. Mona Mubarak has a notable interest in the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections and has achieved remarkable success with this procedure, even in patients with pelvic issues. PRP treatment is a technique that harnesses the healing potential of a patient’s own blood to facilitate the recovery of injured tendons, joints, muscles, and ligaments.

PRP treatment is particularly valuable in the management of conditions such as osteoarthritis and joint degeneration. By harnessing the regenerative properties of PRP, it provides a natural and minimally invasive approach to improving joint health and relieving pain. Dr. Mubarak’s success with PRP injections highlights the efficacy of this procedure in addressing a range of medical issues, including pelvic conditions.
