Professional Profile

Prof. Lee has an excellent profile in regeneration surgery and research; after completing his MSc in Sports and Exercise medicine in 2011, he was able to continue his research to a PhD level. He was awarded the Orthopaedics Travelling Fellowship in 2013 to visit the EndoKlinik, Germany and a Sports Medicine travelling fellowship in 2014 to present his work and gain further experience on Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Cells Therapy & Autologous Conditioning Serum (ACS) in Australia. In 2016 he was awarded the British Orthopaedic Association Clinical Leader Fellowship to work and operate with the late Prof. James Richardson in the world-renowned OsCell cartilage regeneration centre in Oswestry, UK. With a sound knowledge of cell biology and tissue engineering principles, he can offer regenerative surgery to cartilage injuries and most musculoskeletal conditions. He is a champion of the Single Treatment Autologous Chondrocyte implantation (STACi) which only require a single surgery.
Prof Lee has a strong ethos for holistic and biological approaches to treating hip, knee and ankle conditions, he has successfully treated many patients with bracing, injections, arthroscopies and osteotomies. By embracing the latest technology, Prof Lee can offer minimal invasive percutaneous treatments to tendon and ligament injuries. Metal Replacement is always the last resort in the treatment pathway, with a good understanding of the 3D planning and printing technology, he can offer patients a customised approach in surgery.
Prof. Lee is on the General Medical Council, UK (GMC) specialist register for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. Being a double board-certified Orthopaedic surgeon in the UK and Europe with specialist interests in Regeneration and Sports Medicine, he has successfully applied his research to clinical use, for example, he has treated UK premiership footballers for muscle injuries which significantly reduced their time for recovery and return to play. With a holistic approach to medicine and cell therapy, Prof. Lee understands the strong links between nutrition, preconditioning and rehabilitation optimisation. He has treated sports injuries in athletes and offers high-performance ACL reconstruction and repair techniques.
Prof. Lee has a passion in applying clinical data and biomechanical principles to hip and knee replacement surgery. He embraces the British heritage and craftsmanship of a well-planned Total Hip replacement. He completed the highly competitive prestigious Robin Ling Exeter Hip fellowship in the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Hospital, England; it helped him to further develop his skills and learn the original techniques from the centre which invented the Exeter Hip, S.P.A.I.R.E., impaction bone grafting and cementing since 1970. He is on the faculty for the Exeter Hip course.
