He performs over 500 surgical procedures annually across his NHS and private practices, maintaining a patient-focused ethos rooted in the latest evidence-based surgical and non-operative care approaches. In 2016, he wrote a book on stem cells in orthopaedics, which has been widely successful.

In academia, Professor Imam is a distinguished researcher at the University of East London, boasting over 120 peer-reviewed publications, 12 textbook chapters, and four authored books. He acts as the chief investigator for numerous clinical trials, investigating areas such as stem cell applications, cartilage and tendon repair, minimally invasive fracture fixation, and advanced arthroscopic techniques.
