Mr Yewlett is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in both surgical and regenerative treatments of shoulder and elbow conditions and sporting injuries of the shoulder and elbow and in the delivery of a one stop shoulder diagnostic service as well as being a high volume shoulder and elbow arthroplasty surgeon.
He studied medicine at Imperial College London and graduated with a first class honours degree in 2004. He completed Higher Surgical Training on the highly regarded all Wales rotation. In addition to his surgical qualifications he obtained a higher degree in Trauma Surgery from Swansea University in 2013 and won the award for outstanding performance and his dissertation was on complex elbow fractures.
Following the award of CCST (Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training) in 2014, he underwent further advanced specialist training in shoulder and elbow surgery at some of the UK’s most prestigious competitively appointed fellowships at Exeter, Stockport, and the SWLEOC (South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre).
He was honoured to be awarded the inaugural national BESS (British Elbow and Shoulder Society) Leadership fellowship award in 2015. He believes in good quality research to underpin clinical decision making and collects PROMS data for all elective patients and regularly audits his outcomes and performance against national standards. He uses published evidence to inform his decision making process and will only suggest a surgical solution for a problem when there is no better non-surgical alternative.
He was awarded the national BESS (British Elbow and Shoulder Society) Pump Priming Grant award in 2018 for the consentplus project for shoulder and elbow arthroplasty.
He has been the orthopaedic head of service for Grantham and District Hospitals since 2018 and has helped spearhead their vision to become a centre of elective orthopaedic excellence and has been the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust Lead for elbow arthroplasty since 2017.
In 2019 he became the first shoulder surgeon approved by the major insurance group (Alliance) to perform wideawake office based diagnostic arthroscopies on their corporate patients in recognition of his international expertise.

The team made sure everything was organised for us prior to our arrival.
