Rachna Murthy is recognised as a key opinion leader in the fields of aesthetics, periocular cancer and thyroid eye disease, and is recently shortlisted as a finalist for the Aesthetics Awards Consultant Surgeon of the year. She heads the Cambridge University Hospitals Thyroid Eye Disease Service providing quaternary oculoplastic care. Her service has been internationally recognised and she enjoys faculty status at numerous international meetings.
Miss Murthy is an experienced surgical trainer not just in the NHS and for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists but also in the private sector where her academic safety work with dermal fillers and technical skills has led to her appointment as faculty of the Allergan Medical Institute. As the lead periocular skin cancer clinician for Ipswich for the last decade, she has also helped to pioneer innovative surgical approaches resulting in reduced patient attendance and cancer recurrence with improved cosmetic outcomes.
She is a full member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society, the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, International Associate member of the American Society of Oculoplastic Surgery and sits on the council of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Ophthalmology section. Her publications have won international prizes and are widely quoted. Prior to her decade of consultant experience her own post-residency fellowship training was at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Craniofacial Unit at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, both in London as well as the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, in Melbourne, Australia.
She practices at FaceRestoration.com in Harley Street together with Prof Jonathan Roos, providing a unique diverse approach with built in expert second opinion and care.
Rachna teaches surgical and non-surgical aesthetics and filler safety to other doctors in Cambridge – www.aesthetics-course.com – and they also co-own and operate www.FaceRestoration.com. They have developed the Scars-Less (TM) approach to surgery and have also patented a novel antimicrobial agent – Purifeyes – designed to improve safety for aesthetics and general daily exposure. www.purifeyes.co.uk.
She is a patient advocate and cares about looking after people to the highest standard and with compassion.
Rachna is a devoted mother to two young men and a supportive wife to her Consultant Aneasthetist husband. She is a keen sketch artist, traveller, entrepreneur and innovator.
