Specialist consultation

Meet with one of our specialist doctors, who will discuss and guide you through the screening process and answer any queries in a 45-minute consultation.

This consultation will also include a variety of diagnostic tests, including:

  • A consultation with our specialist health screening doctor to go over your medical history and discuss any concerns
  • Full body* cancer screening
  • Blood pressure check
  • BMI check (height and weight measurement)
  • CT Colonography –  A considerably less invasive and disruptive option than a traditional colonoscopy. This scan can very accurately identify signs of bowel cancer
  • CT chest and CT calcium score (to check for lung and heart abnormalities)
  • DEXA scan – A scan that measures your bone density to identify bone disorders such as osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • ECG (to check basic heart rhythm and identify abnormalities)
  • A comprehensive series of blood and urine tests
  • Hearing test
  • Eye pressure test
  • MRI head (to check for tumours and abnormalities in the brain)
  • Ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis (used to assess organs such as the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen)
Specialist consultation
Haematology
Biochemistry
Endocrinology
Urinalysis

Blood tests include a complete blood count, which checks the types and number of cells in your blood, including red and white blood cells and platelets. Full blood counts are a valuable indicator of your general health and can detect various disorders. If one of our haematologists finds an abnormality, your doctor will likely send you for further diagnostic tests to help identify the underlying problem.

  • Kidney function – tests how well the kidney is filtering your blood, as well as balancing electrolytes and minerals in the body.
  • Liver function tests – used to measure enzymes and proteins produced by the liver to show how well it’s functioning or detect any liver cell damage.
  • Bone health – this profile includes calcium and uric acid, two compounds that indicate your bone health.

  • Diabetes – includes glycated haemoglobin to indicate how well-controlled your blood sugar levels have been over the past three months, while the direct blood glucose levels tell us how high or low your blood sugar level is on the day of the blood test itself.

  • Lipid profile – measures the amount of good and bad cholesterol in your body.
  • Iron status – measures both your direct iron and ferritin levels. Low iron and ferritin could indicate iron deficiency anaemia, which can cause symptoms like tiredness, exhaustion and breathlessness.

  • Inflammatory marker – C-reactive protein is a marker of inflammation in the body. We can use it to identify an infection or inflammatory condition or monitor a response to treatment.
  • Vitamin D – checks your vitamin D levels, which are vital for bone growth and health. It also helps to regulate calcium, phosphate and magnesium absorption in the gut.
  • Thyroid function – measures thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (T4) to see if your thyroid is over or underactive.

  • CA 125 – a tumour marker that can detect or monitor ovarian cancer. (female only)
  • Testosterone – measures testosterone to help identify the cause of erectile dysfunction, infertility, premature/delayed puberty or male menopause. (male only)
  • Prostate screen (Prostate Specific Antigen) – a blood test to help detect or monitor prostate cancer. (male only)
  • CA  19-9 – measures the level of the CA 19-9 protein (cancer antigen 19-9) in your blood. CA 19-9 is a tumour marker, a substance produced by cancer cells or normal cells in response to cancer. However, people without cancer can have small amounts of CA 19-9 in their blood.

This urine test screens for many disorders, including urinary tract infections and kidney disease. Its results can then be analysed alongside those from other diagnostic tests to help identify any potential underlying problems.
