Why might my child need diagnostic imaging scans?

Paediatric diagnostic imaging is a safe and effective way to investigate your child’s symptoms and understand their health in detail. Depending on their symptoms, your doctor may recommend an MRI, CT scan, X-ray or ultrasound

These imaging tests capture clear, accurate images of the body, helping to detect, diagnose and monitor many conditions.

Our advanced technology and experienced team perform each scan with your child’s wellbeing as their highest priority.

Our approach to paediatric GP care

We understand that visiting the doctor can sometimes make children nervous, so our team works hard to create a calm and friendly experience for every family. From the moment you arrive, we take time to explain what will happen and make sure your child feels relaxed and understood.

During your appointment, our paediatric GP will:

  • Listen carefully to your concerns
  • Ask questions about your child’s symptoms, development and general health
  • Carry out a physical examination if needed
  • Explain any findings clearly and outline the next steps

We always involve you in every decision about your child’s care and make sure you both leave feeling informed and reassured.

Brain and spinal cord issues

We can investigate symptoms such as headaches, seizures or delayed development, and check for conditions like epilepsy, brain tumours or spinal cord problems.

Inclusive, child-centred care

Every child experiences healthcare differently. Our paediatric clinics are designed to feel calm and supportive, which can be especially reassuring for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We take time to understand your child as an individual, adapting appointments where possible to suit their needs and help them feel at ease. Many families value the quieter environment, shorter waits and personalised approach, allowing children to be seen without feeling overwhelmed.

If your child needs any adjustments or extra support, our team will always be happy to talk this through with you in advance.
