What is the Memory Clinic?

Our Memory Clinic offers a comprehensive and compassionate service for people experiencing memory problems or cognitive changes. We support individuals with concerns ranging from general forgetfulness to symptoms suggestive of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

At your first appointment, our experienced memory specialists will carry out a full clinical, neurological assessment. If needed, we can arrange blood tests and advanced brain scans such as an MRI or CT to help with diagnosis.

Our multidisciplinary team includes consultant geriatricians, psychiatrists and psychologists, all working together to provide a clear understanding of your condition and recommend the best next steps. We also offer advice, treatment and ongoing support tailored to your needs.

What does the Memory Clinic offer?

The Memory Clinic provides a thorough, same-day assessment and personalised care pathway – from initial consultation to diagnosis and ongoing support.

Investigation and Assessment

Consultation with a memory specialist

Your visit begins at our Harley Street clinic with a dedicated consultant. They’ll take the time to listen to your concerns, explore your symptoms and carry out a full clinical history and physical examination in a calm and respectful setting.

Blood tests and urinalysis

We carry out a comprehensive panel of tests to identify common, treatable causes of memory issues, such as vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems or infections. These tests help us build a clearer picture of your overall health.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

This simple, non-invasive test checks your heart rhythm to identify any cardiovascular issues that may be affecting your brain function.

Cognitive testing

We use structured verbal and written tasks to assess key areas such as memory, concentration, language and thinking. This gives us an objective view of your cognitive health.

Advanced brain imaging

If appropriate, you’ll have a high-quality MRI scan to assess the structure of your brain and look for any signs of neurodegeneration or other abnormalities.

Your scan will take place at our state-of-the-art Imaging and Diagnostic Centre at 9 Harley Street. If MRI isn’t suitable for you, we will talk through alternative imaging options as part of your personalised assessment.

Investigation and Assessment

Diagnosis

Following your assessment, you’ll receive a clear and comprehensive diagnostic report. This includes a detailed explanation of your results, along with a personalised care plan tailored to your specific needs, circumstances and preferences.

Our goal is to give you clarity, reassurance and practical guidance – whether you’re seeking answers for yourself or a loved one.

Diagnosis

Treatment and ongoing care

Once your results are ready, you’ll have a dedicated feedback consultation with your memory specialist. During this conversation, we’ll talk through your diagnosis in a supportive, easy-to-understand way and outline the next steps.

We’ll offer tailored advice on:

  • The most appropriate ways to support you or your loved one
  • Lifestyle changes to help protect brain health and reduce the risk of further cognitive decline
  • If cognitive-enhancing medication may be suitable for you

With your permission, we’ll also share your report with your GP to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Your journey doesn’t end with a diagnosis. Many of our patients choose to stay with us for regular check-ins, follow-up care and ongoing support. We’re here for you – every step of the way.
