Auto Fluorescence Photography

Imaging of the retinal pigmentation.

Colour Fundus Photography

This is useful for any eye condition that could cause a change in the structure of the retina. This includes Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. It is also used to monitor other types of lesion at the back of the eye.  Images are taken at slightly different angles to help give an impression of the 3 dimensional structure.

Corvis ST Tonometry and Pachymetry

Corvis ST is an air-puff tonometer coupled with an imaging methos which analyses the change in shape of the cornea to an air puff. It provides information about corneal biomechanical response (stiffness of the cornea), eye pressure and corneal thickness. It is a valuable diagnostic tool for conditions such as glaucoma, keratoconus and other conditions of the cornea.

Goldmann Visual Fields

Manual visual field testing to map the extent of the field of vision. Especially helpful in cases of advanced vision loss and neurological causes for vision loss.

Humphrey Visual Fields

The Humphrey Visual Field is an industry standard test which allow us to look for defects in the sensitivity of the eye. For example, the central vision of the eye may be good, but the periphery of the visual field may be severely damaged. It is important to detect change in the visual field in order to maintain the function of the eye. As a good eye is able to compensate for poor vision in the other eye, the effects of visual field damage are often unnoticed by the patient until there is significant damage to the vision. The Humphrey visual field tests is designed to pick up the earliest changes to the function of the eye.

Intraocular Pressure

To measure the pressure of the fluids in the eye. If the pressure is too great, damage may occur to the fragile nerve fibres at the back of the eye. Over time, this may cause a reduction in the vision called glaucoma.

We use two methods to assess Intraocular pressure:

Goldmann Applanation Tonometry (the ‘blue light test’ and reference standard) and the Corvis ST (an air-puff device which offers greater accuracy)

Optical Coherence Tomography

To take a cross-sectional image through the retina at the back of the eye or the cornea at the front. The machine achieves this by scanning the reflections from different layers in the tissue and then building them into a cross-sectional image. This will allow us to see any damage within the layers of the retina or features in the structure of the eye which are not easily visible.

Eye Conditions We Treat

The London Eye Diagnostic Centre is known for its excellent diagnostic services and state-of-the-art facilities, providing patients with comprehensive medical assessments and personalized care.

General eye conditions

This includes watery, red or sticky eyes.

Eye socket diseases

This includes orbital tumors, lumps and bumps, thyroid eye disease and artificial eyes.

External eye disease

For conditions relating to the outside of the eyeball, including the cornea, iris and sclera (the tough outer layer of the eye).

Glaucoma

Treatments for the signs and symptoms of glaucoma, including increased pressure within the eyeball, which can cause gradual loss of sight if left untreated.

Medical retina

For conditions at the back of the eye, which are treated medically using drugs, eye drops or lasers, and including diabetic screening.

Dry eye syndrome

Dry eye syndrome can occur when your eyes stop making tears as they usually would. Tears are an important part of your eye health. They help to keep your eyes lubricated, protect against infections, and clear away debris from the surface of your eyes.

Watering eyes

Watering eye is a condition where tears are produced without any obvious explanation. The medical name is epiphora.
