A brow lift, sometimes called a forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure that lifts and repositions the skin and soft tissues of the forehead. The procedure helps smooth lines, reduce frown wrinkles and raise the eyebrows to a more natural, youthful position.
During the procedure, your surgeon may also relax the small muscles between the brows that cause deep lines or furrows, creating a softer, more open appearance around the eyes.

A brow lift is usually performed under general anaesthesia, and most people stay in hospital overnight. The procedure takes one to two hours. Before your surgery, your consultant will assess your facial structure, skin condition and hairline to decide which technique will achieve the best, most natural result.
Your surgeon will carefully plan the incision positions to keep any scarring as discreet as possible. They typically hide them within the hairline or natural creases of the skin, so you’ll barely notice them once healed.
From your first consultation to your final follow-up, we’ll keep you fully informed, comfortable and supported. Your surgeon will take time to understand your goals and explain what to expect at every stage so that you can feel confident about your treatment.
When you arrive at one of our hospitals, our friendly team will welcome you and help you settle in. You’ll meet your surgeon and anaesthetist again before your operation to discuss any final details.
Once you’re ready, we’ll take you to the operating room for your procedure. You’ll be under a general anaesthetic throughout, so you’ll be asleep and won’t feel anything.
After your surgery, you’ll rest in our recovery area before we take you to your private room. Most people stay overnight so we can monitor your initial recovery.
You must rest for the first few days after surgery, as it’s typical to experience some swelling or bruising around the forehead and eyes. These symptoms usually improve within 1 to 2 weeks, and many people feel ready to return to work or light activities after 10 to 14 days.
Some people notice mild headaches following surgery. We’ll provide suitable pain relief to manage any discomfort. If you suffer from migraines, a brow lift may even help reduce your symptoms.
Your surgeon will remove the stitches around 10 days after surgery and check your healing progress. Scars are usually well hidden within the hairline and fade over the following months. More extensive procedures may take slightly longer to recover from, and your surgeon will discuss this with you at your consultation.

My dad had become a very reserved person who did not want to socialise, would not join in conversations and slept most of the time. He is now happy socialising, actively joining in conversations, even making jokes with friends and is wanting to do jobs around the house, for example potting new plants in the garden, as he did previously. My mum has quoted ‘she now has her partner back.

Because they knew I was claustrophobic they placed me in a larger room and it was akin to a 5-star hotel with phenomenal healthcare! I would highly recommend the hospital and every aspect of the same”
Fine choice of surgeon. Completely at ease in his presence, discussed my hopes and issues, and received a full, fair appraisal back from Mr Britto. My only fear was the twilight anaethesia, which Mr Britto assured me was the best option for quicker healing. He wasnt wrong! On the day of surgery I was relaxed, excited, and a bit anxious only to find that the twilight anaethesia was quite brilliant. I could respond to his verbal requests, then return to my peaceful slumber. But better still, his choice of music during the proceedures totally added to the relaxing atmosphere. I was also concious for some of the proceedures and listened intently to what was going on before slipping back into sleep. I felt no pain. Immediately post Op I could get up, eat, drink and wasnt too uncomfortable. It was a long proceedure, and I was allowed home after an hr or so. Back in the clinic next day for a check up and dressing change. I have been back twice now and seen Mr Britto both times, he is happy, I am more than happy although its early days yet, but the results are very apparent already. I would (and have already) recommended Mr Britto, and he will be my go to surgeon in future.
I recently underwent facial surgery with mr Jonathan Britto. His professional approach throughout, from initial consultation to post surgery, instilled confidence. He also showed kindness and thoughtfulness in terms of my needs around the surgery and my emotions. He was also considerate and supportive of my financial capacity. The initial consultation was thorough and informative, and all my questions and concerns were listened to and addressed. He then contacted me again directly to ensure I was okay with everything going forward. I was. The surgery day was relaxed and Mr Britto spent time with me before surgery going through the process and checking that I was comfortable with everything. Surgery went well and Mr Britto was there post surgery to check in on me and ensure that I was good to go home that day. I was able to contact Mr Britto at any time with any concerns I had, and received almost immediate responses, including a video call so that Mr Britto was able to view/see my concern, and reassure me that my concern was a normal occurrence and gave advice on how to manage it. I have had my six week follow up, which went well, and Mr Britto has ensured me that I can contact him at any time with any concerns or questions. Overall I am extremely happy with Mr Britto, and my surgical procedure and process, and felt confident and comfortable and human (not just another procedure). Thank you

My experience with ‘twilight’ sedation was extremely positive. I read about it before the operation and knew that it I would feel relaxed, and the recovery would be much easier than from general anesthesia. In reality it went much better than I expected. I was given the drug just before the procedure and felt like falling asleep but being aware of what was going on. I heard the surgeons talk to each other and give me instructions to open/close eyes. I didn’t feel any pain and lost count of time, I felt at ease, like my mind was floating somewhere. I remember being transferred to recovery area and nurses taking care of me. When I was fully awake, I thought the operation took 30-40 min, while it actually lasted 2.5 hours. I didn’t feel any negative effects of the sedation and I was fit to go home in a couple of hours. If I had to have another surgery in future I would definitely choose the ‘twilight’ anesthesia

Mr Britto has been amazing from consultation to procedure. Always available to answer questions and queries and has been transparent every step of my journey. He is approachable, caring and clearly passionate about his field Being an individual who has panic attacks at the dentist, the Twilight sedation scared the hell out of me. Mr Britto assured me I would be fine and I trusted him, and I’m so glad I did and not bottle out. This time yesterday I was 2 hours into my 4 hour procedure under twilight sedation. I was calm and relaxed – had no thought as to what was going on – felt very little and it felt like a feather on my face. I could talk )probably too much !) and today I have a new face. I’m not rich or famous but my face & chin had sagged after 2 years of personal grief and trauma – Today I have a new face, no pain just a bit of aching and mostly my self confidence restored – thanks to Mr Britto and his amazing team

From the moment one discovers Jonathan (mine was from online research where many routes triangulated to him) I believe one feels in safe and superbly reassuring hands!. I felt Jonathan’s interest in my concern was genuine, listening with concern and empathy whilst applying his clearly vast plastic surgery experience to understand the treatment protocols that would work best for me. The result of our initial consultation discussions meant I came away with a real anatomical understanding of the root causes of my concern along with a full explanation of the prescribed procedure and how/why it would work. This left me feeling there was a way forward and I was in the hands of someone who spent a lifetime perfecting his craft and I could relax in that knowledge. The post consultation follow up with reading materials and access to both Jonathan and his team put me at ease in readiness for my surgery with all the responses to my questions clearly thought through and patiently explained. I could also then clearly plan my work/personal diary around the treatment and recovery plan. This proved to be spot in hindsight! I have to admit that having had general anaesthesia before I was actually more confident in using this protocol for any surgery but when Jonathan explained why his clinic uses twilight anaesthesia for my treatment type (where you are at least aware of your surrounding vs being fully ‘knocked out’) I was happy to explore further and see if i could get ultimately confident with this approach as it of course feels different. Jonathan and his team encouraged me to read other’s reviews and I chatted to a patient for their direct review. I was also reassured by the fact that Jonathan and his anaesthetist have conducted hundreds of operations using twilight and I thought to myself, had there ever been issues with this approach to an elective surgery he would indeed never use it! I am happy to inform that twilight anaesthesia really is as good as general anaesthetic – I think for this type of procedure it is perhaps better. The only notion of pain is the initial pin prick in the hand at 1/10 (which occurs for any type of surgery) and then I found myself in a completely blissed-out state not really conscious of what was going on. In addition, of course there is local nerve block anaesthesia applied all around the treatment areas so there is no sensation whatsoever of pain coupled with my mind being completely ‘floating’ and relaxed. The true advantage of twilight became even more apparent after the procedure as I came to very quickly, fully lucid and able to eat food within 20 minutes! Unlike general anaesthetic, i had no horrid sore throat and sick/nausea feeling for several hours after. Within an hour or so I was ready to be discharged and my head was clear for the recovery process. It was also explained by Jonathan that using twilight would aid recovery as it is less taxing on the system and allows for more of the body’s resources to be channelled to the healing process. I am now four weeks into recovery and can go about my life fully (and have been able to for some days!). It has been reassuring that the team are proactive in setting up periodic consults with Jonathan to review progress at key landmark points and again I had the feeling of being in caring and highly professional hands by someone who wants the best outcomes technically and emotionally for his patients. Of course there is some residual redness and swelling but this again was explained, is expected and I know will fully subside in the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing the final results and have no doubt based on what I can see so far they will be fully natural, enhancing and refreshing me in the most natural way with any evidence of work inconspicuous!

“My whole experience with Mr Hove, and Blue Fin Vision was seamless. Very soon after making my enquiry, I was contacted by the practice manager and had an appointment for an assessment and eye screening within days. Mr Hove was extremely thorough, and talked me through every aspect of the procedure I required, which was lens replacement surgery. He talked me through any risks, pros (many) and cons (few). He was also able to talk about the procedure from the perspective of the patient, as he has had lens replacement surgery himself. This point was really interesting to me, as he has the same Carl Zeiss lenses in his eyes as he uses for his patients. I opted for the trifocal Carl Zeiss lens, as Mr Hove was so pleased with the improvement in his vision, and I’m delighted to say that post-surgery, I feel the same way. In all, the consultation was thorough, and reassured me that I was being dealt with by an expert. On top of this, Mr Hove has excellent people-skills, and I felt I would be in great hands. I booked in for my surgery two weeks later as I was busy, but it could have been earlier if I’d wanted it to be. Mr Hove operates in the Weymouth Street Hospital, and again, my experience there was first rate. The general and nursing staff are professional and pleasant to deal with. My room was also very well equipped, and the menu had a good selection. My husband also ate with me, at no extra cost, which was a nice touch! The surgery itself was fast and professional. Again, the friendly theatre team working with Mr Hove was excellent, and I felt very safe in their hands. Aftercare was faultless. Mr Hove came up to my room to check I was alright, and called me again the next day. I have his personal number in case I need to contact him urgently. Saying that, I haven’t had any issues at all. My eyes and vision felt great by the next day – they just needed a good night’s sleep! In conclusion, I cannot rate Mr Hove and Blue Fin Vision highly enough. I still have a beautiful bottle of champagne that Mr Hove gave to me, and I’ll be using it to toast the whole Blue Fin team. Many, many thanks to you all. In short, I have sharp eyesight restored, and my glasses are in the bin. There may be cheaper options and lenses out there, but I want my eyesight to be great for the rest of my life – so why would I put it in inferior hands, or have second-rate lenses inserted? From where I’m standing now, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
