Breast implants with Phoenix Hospital Group

Breast implants are used in plastic surgery to enhance the size, shape and overall appearance of your breasts. They’re commonly used in breast enlargement procedures to achieve a fuller, more symmetrical look or as part of reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy.

We understand that every patient has unique goals and expectations. Our expert consultants will take the time to discuss your breast profile, listen to your needs and help you decide which breast implant suits you best.

Choosing breast implants is a major decision, and we’re here to support you at every stage. With our personalised approach and state-of-the-art facilities, you can feel confident in achieving the results you want.

Types of breast implants we offer

There are two main types of breast implants available:

  • Silicone implants – these are the most commonly used in the UK. They tend to feel more natural and are less likely to wrinkle compared to saline implants
  • Saline implants – these are placed into the body while empty and then filled with a sterile saltwater solution. Because they’re put in while empty, only a small incision needs to be made

Our specialists will guide you through the selection process to ensure the implant you choose suits your needs.

At Phoenix Hospital Group, we offer additional peace of mind by only working with the finest quality breast implants from Nagor and Motiva.

Nagor breast implants

Nagor is the only British manufacturer of silicone and saline breast implants, with over 40 years of experience. Their implants are CE-marked and produced in ISO 13485-certified facilities, ensuring consistently high standards.

Nagor implants offer:

  • A comprehensive range of shapes and sizes
  • A lifetime guarantee covering rupture and capsular contracture (hardening of tissue around the implant)

Motiva breast implants

Motiva implants are recognised for their advanced technology and natural feel. They feature a SmoothSilk® surface and Q Inside Safety Technology™ for added safety and traceability.

Motiva implants provide:

  • Lifetime coverage against rupture and 10-year coverage for capsular contracture
  • Optional extended warranty programmes, with 2-year and 5-year plans offering financial support for revision surgery

Breast implant shapes

We offer both round and anatomical (teardrop-shaped) implants, each with distinct benefits:

  • Round implants provide a fuller appearance and are less affected by movement or rotation
  • Anatomical implants mimic the natural slope of the breast and are designed with a textured surface to help keep them in place

Our consultants will talk you through these choices to find the best fit for your body and desired results.

Why choose Phoenix Hospital Group for your breast implants?

The breast implant procedure: how does it work?

Breast implant surgery is carried out under general anaesthetic at our modern facilities in London. The procedure usually takes between 60 and 90 minutes.

Your surgeon will make an incision – typically in the crease beneath the breast – to insert the implant.

Based on your anatomy and goals, the implant may be placed in one of the following positions:

  • Sub-glandular (behind the breast tissue)
  • Sub-muscular (behind the chest muscle)

You and your consultant will discuss the most appropriate placement during your consultation to ensure a natural, balanced result.

Once the implant is positioned, the incision is closed with dissolvable stitches, and a supportive dressing or surgical bra is applied to support healing.

Breast implant recovery and aftercare

After your breast implant surgery, you’ll receive dedicated aftercare tailored to your needs. We’ll offer support every step of your recovery and provide clear guidance and detailed instructions on how to help your recovery at home. Our dedicated team are always on hand to answer any questions you may have and will be happy to assist you.

In the first few days after surgery, it’s normal to experience some discomfort and swelling, which can be managed with the pain relief medication we provide. You may also develop bruising. Within one to two weeks, any non-dissolvable stitches are usually removed, and you might feel well enough to return to non-manual work.

From four to six weeks, you can gradually resume normal activities, including light exercise – though it is still important to avoid strenuous movements and heavy lifting. By six weeks, most of the swelling subsides and you can typically return to all regular activities.

Breast implant results

It may take several months for final results to become visible, as swelling reduces and breast tissue adjusts.

Once you’re fully healed, you can expect:

  • Enhanced shape and volume
  • A fuller, more symmetrical look
  • Natural feel and movement
  • Long-lasting results

Having realistic expectations and maintaining open communication with your surgeon will support the best possible outcome.

Breast implant frequently asked questions (FAQs)

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants are not designed to last a lifetime. While many can remain intact for 10 to 15 years or longer, they may need to be replaced or removed due to issues such as implant rupture or capsular contracture (a tightening of scar tissue around the implant). Regular check-ups with your surgeon are important to monitor the condition of your implants over time.

Will breast implants affect my ability to breastfeed?

Most women with breast implants can breastfeed without difficulty. However, certain surgical techniques, particularly those involving incisions around the areola, may affect milk ducts and nerves, which could influence milk production. It’s important to discuss your plans for breastfeeding with your surgeon during your consultation.

Can I still have a mammogram with breast implants?

Yes, but breast implants can make mammograms slightly more complex. Special imaging techniques and additional views help ensure accurate screening. Always inform your radiologist that you have implants before the procedure so they can adjust the imaging process accordingly.
