Menopause Clinic on Harley Street

At the Menopause Clinic, our compassionate specialists will take the time to understand how menopause is affecting you. Together, we will create a personalised plan of treatment and lifestyle guidance to help ease your symptoms, protect your long-term health and improve your quality of life.

Menopause is a natural life stage that usually happens between 45 and 55, when periods come to an end as hormone levels fall. Some women may go through it earlier, either naturally or following medical treatment, such as chemotherapy or a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus).

Menopause and perimenopause can bring various physical and emotional symptoms, including:

Irregular periods

Hot flushes

Night sweats

Mood changes

Anxiety

Poor sleep

These changes can sometimes feel overwhelming, but with the correct care and support, they can become more manageable.

How our menopause specialists can help

The expert gynaecologists who lead our Menopause Clinic take the time to listen, understand your symptoms and explore how menopause is affecting your life. From your first appointment, we work with you to create a completely personalised treatment plan that supports your long-term health.

Book an appointment
Initial consultation

Your first consultation is a chance to talk openly about the symptoms you’re experiencing and their effect on you. Your consultant will also review your general health to build a clear picture of your needs.

Blood tests

In many cases, they will recommend blood tests to check your hormone levels and rule out other possible causes of your symptoms. These results help us identify the most effective treatment options for you.

Non-hormonal treatments

Some women prefer to try non-hormonal options to manage their menopause symptoms. Examples include targeted vitamins and minerals to support bone health, energy levels and mood, as well as dietary adjustments to improve overall wellbeing.

Another option is evidence-based phytotherapy, where you take plant-derived extract supplements that have been shown to help with specific symptoms, such as hot flushes or night sweats.

Your consultant will take the time to explain these treatments in detail and help you decide on most appropriate approach for your symptoms and overall health.

Hormonal treatments

Your consultant may recommend hormonal treatments, also known as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), if they are suitable for you. HRT replaces the hormones that decline during menopause, most often oestrogen and progesterone. Restoring these hormone levels can ease common symptoms, such as hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbance, low mood and vaginal dryness.

HRT can also help protect against long-term health risks linked to menopause, such as osteoporosis and heart disease. Your consultant will discuss the different HRT types available, including tablets, patches and gels, and explain which option may work best for your needs.

Lifestyle recommendations

Your consultant can provide practical advice on lifestyle changes that can make a real difference. Their advice may include tailored nutrition plans, exercise guidance and stress-reduction techniques to help you feel healthier and more in control.

Follow-up consultation

Menopause is a journey that can bring progressive changes. Follow-up appointments provide the opportunity to review your progress, adjust your treatment plan if needed and continue to feel supported as your symptoms evolve.

Menopause symptoms we can treat

Every woman’s experience of menopause is unique. Some symptoms may be mild, while others can be disruptive.

At our Menopause Clinic, we can help to ease many symptoms, including:

  • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight

Whatever symptoms you’re facing, our specialists are here to listen and offer support to help you feel more like yourself again.

Menopause symptoms we can treat

Menopause and weight gain

Many women notice changes in their weight during menopause. Falling oestrogen levels affect how the body processes sugars and fats, and natural muscle loss with age can make it harder to keep weight off. Low mood or poor sleep may also lead to increased snacking or reliance on processed foods, which can add to the challenge. These changes can affect body image, self-esteem and even relationships.

Oestrogen deficiency can also increase the risk of heart problems, which makes maintaining a healthy weight especially vital at this stage of life.

At Phoenix Hospital Group, we work closely with weight management and metabolism specialists who can provide tailored advice on nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes. With the correct support, you can protect your long-term health and feel more confident in your body during menopause.

Menopause clinic FAQs (frequently asked questions)

How do I know if I am going through the menopause?

One of the first signs of menopause is usually a change in your periods. They might become lighter, heavier or irregular. This phase is called perimenopause. Menopause is when you haven’t had a period for 12 or more consecutive months.

During perimenopause, you may experience symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes or difficulty sleeping.

If you’re unsure if you’re in perimenopause, blood tests can sometimes help by checking your hormone levels.

What treatments are available for menopause symptoms?

Various treatments are available, and the correct option depends on your needs. The treatments may include HRT, non-hormonal medicines, nutritional supplements and tailored lifestyle changes. Your consultant will guide you through the most suitable approach based on your symptoms and overall health.

Is HRT safe?

Experts consider HRT a safe and effective treatment for most women, helping to relieve symptoms and support long-term health. During your consultation, your specialist will explain the benefits and any potential risks regarding your medical history so that you can make a fully informed decision.

Do I need a referral to attend the Menopause Clinic?

You can book appointments at our Menopause Clinic directly without requiring a GP referral. Many women choose to come straight to us to avoid waiting and to access fast, specialist care.

How much does a private menopause consultation cost?

The cost of a consultation depends on the appointment and any tests or treatments you require. Our team will always provide clear information beforehand so that you know exactly what we include and what to expect.
