Phoenix Hospital Group is a dynamic, fast growing Independent Hospital Group which currently operates two hospitals in Central London and Essex and two Harley Street outpatient and diagnostic centres. The Weymouth Hospital is a short stay elective hospital, registered for 17 beds, accepting planned and urgent surgical admissions, with a focus on Cosmetic Surgery, Gynae, Pain, Orthopaedics, Max Facs and General surgery to name a few. The Consulting and Diagnostic rooms at 9 and 25 Harley Street are part of the Phoenix Hospital Group. The Outpatient sites are closely affiliated with Weymouth Street Hospital and provide pre-operative consulting, minor procedures,  diagnostics and post-operative follow up care for patients.

Key Accountabilities & Output

  • Ensure the smooth running of wards at all times whilst ensuring all staff are delivering the highest levels of safety, care and customer service to both our patients and Consultants.
  • To establish and maintain highest levels of communication with patients, consultants and across other departments
  • To provide visible leadership, direction and effective communication to ensure high levels of nursing staff engagement across the teams
  • To develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others.
  • To ensure that the clinical skillset of staff maintained to the highest level to ensure a safe and quality service is delivered
  • To monitor and maintain health, safety and security of all patients and staff both on the wards and across the company
  • To contribute to the implementation of new services
  • To contribute to quality improvement.
  • To promote people’s equality, diversity and rights.
  • To lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice.
  • To plan, allocate, assess and provide feedback to team members.
  • To maintain and support the efficient use of physical and/or financial resources.
  • Managing and training of junior and nurse staff.
  • Working alongside other senior leaders and participate in the Duty Clinical Manager rota
  • Effective strategic resource management.
  • Supporting the implementation of local Clinical Governance Strategy.
  • Satisfactory completion of objectives as agreed at appraisal and monthly supervision.
  • Serious incident reviews and implementation of recommendations.
  • Demonstrates clear application of continuing professional development portfolio.
  • Providing strong and robust leadership in the clinical environment using the core skills of facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, teaching and delegation.
  • Facilitates delivery of practice and support supervision
  • To participate and take on active lead in organisational clinical and nursing audit programmes, ensuring any learning is implemented and maintained
  • Developing a coaching culture within the clinical environment
  • Work clinically when the need arises
  • Maintains positive Consultant engagement to gain feedback and taking action to address any concerns raised
  • Act as a credible role model, promoting high quality patient care
  • Ensure regular meetings take place, promoting a culture of learning, openness and improvement
  • Managing the housekeeping team across the hospital and ensuring standards are always maintained
  • Demonstrates experience, knowledge and compliance with CQC standards

Qualifications / Skills & Knowledge / Qualities:

  • RN with proven ward management experience
  • Experience of positively promoting equality and diversity and a positive attitude across the team
  • Experience of people management
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership skills
  • Effective and confident coaching and teaching skills
  • Negotiation and diplomacy skills

  • Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing
