Phoenix Hospital Group is a dynamic, fast growing Independent Hospital Group which currently operates two hospitals in Central London and Essex and two Harley Street outpatient and diagnostic centres. It has ambitious plans to grow and is now keen to appoint an exceptional Surgical Practice Development Nurse to support the next stage of its development.

This is a new and exciting role for a dynamic and driven nurse educator. Phoenix Hospital Group (PHG) has grown rapidly from its original Harley Street base and now has four clinical facilities located around Harley Street and Chelmsford. This post has been created to promote learning, exceptional quality care and development of staff across all our sites.

The post holder will be expected to spend time across all sites supporting staff, particularly those involved in interventional treatments. The role is based in London however there is the opportunity for flexible working between our London sites, Chelmsford and home.

With a solid base in theatres and surgical nursing you will be required to develop the skills and knowledge of our staff as the complexity of the work we undertake increases. You will spend a large part of your time working clinically alongside staff and working directly with our Consultant stakeholders to understand their requirements and needs from a dynamic and high performing team.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Personal and professional development of clinical staff (including registered and non-registered) within Theatres, Out Patient Treatment areas, wards and Pre-operative assessment unit as agreed and in collaboration with Head of Governance.
  • Facilitate practice learning to the highest quality through teaching, assessing, evaluation, administration and practice-based work whilst supporting the organisation’s Clinical Governance agenda.
  • Play a pivotal role in education provision throughout the group. The practice development nurse will be a proficient, approachable role model in addition to an expert clinician, with a proven track record of clinical achievement.
  • Lead on Infection Control across the company
  • Work with our Consultants to ensure staff understand and are trained appropriately to support their clinical needs.
  • Take an active role in mentoring of staff
  • Work clinically 50% of their contracted working time

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st level registered nurse
  • Anaesthetic or Theatre Nursing Course
  • Relevant teaching qualification
  • Mentorship Course
  • BSc/first level degree
  • Understands role of Practice Educator and the need for multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of facilitating and supporting others
  • An expert practitioner with extensive clinical experience in theatres and pre, peri and post-operative care
