Breast Implant Removal

We perform breast implant removal under general anaesthetic, so you’ll be asleep throughout. 

First, your surgeon will make an incision in your breast to access the implant. They’ll then carefully remove the implant and any scar tissue that’s developed. 

If you’re having other procedures done simultaneously, like implant replacement or a breast lift, they’ll perform this, too. 

Finally, the surgeon will stitch the incisions, and we’ll take you to the recovery room, where we’ll monitor your initial recovery. You can go home either on the same day or the following day.    

After your implant removal, your breasts will look different from before. The skin may become loose or cause your breasts to look sagged because the skin has stretched to fit your implants. As such, once your implants have been removed, the skin can remain that way. 

This is why some women choose to have a breast lift or breast fat transfer simultaneously. These procedures can help to remove excess skin and create a naturally lifted appearance. 

After we have removed your breast implants, your breasts may change as you age or gain or lose weight.
