Face Lift

28th June 2019 By Phoenix Hospital Group

No part of our body is more exposed to the elements over the years than our face. The skin of your face, neck and around your eyes is delicate, prone to aging and sagging. As we age we lose tone and develop lines that reduce facial definition and overall youthful appearance. A face lift can help reduce sagging and wrinkles and give you a younger look.

Our London Face Lift clinic is staffed with some of the most experienced facial aesthetic surgeons in the city. With decades of clinical expertise, we can help reverse the effects of time and gravity, leaving you with a refreshed and youthful appearance.

Book a Face Lift Consultation

As important as the surgery itself, one of our consultants will meet with you at an initial appointment. This is so we can understand your expectations surrounding the surgery and outline how we can best help you to achieve the look you would like.

Both your face and neck will be carefully examined, focussing on your eyes, mouth and neck profile. Your surgeon will advise on the likely outcome of the surgery and how this will compare to your current appearance. At this point you may want to consider additional procedures such as implants or liposuction which can complement your facelift. Again, any options will be clearly explained and discussed with you before moving forward.

The Day of Your Face Lift

The surgery can be performed as a day case, sometimes meaning you can go home in the evening after your operation. If you are undergoing a face lift without any additional procedures your operation could be completed within 2 hours.

Whilst face lifts require lifting and tightening of the skin, your surgeon may decide that adjustment of the underlying muscle will give the best result possible. If more extensive work is required, a small drain may need to be removed the day after surgery, usually after an overnight stay at our clinic.

Your Recovery

As with all cosmetic surgery, some bruising and swelling is to be expected in the affected area. Resting well and keeping hydrated after the operation will aid in the recovery process. For most patients the majority of swelling and residual bruising will resolve after a couple of weeks, allowing you to return to work.

For safety and to ensure the best possible results, we advise that vigorous exercise and strenuous activity is avoided for around 6 weeks.

Are there any scars after a face lift?

As small, surgical incisions are required around the hairline and just in front of the ears, there will be some sutures to hold everything in the correct position. These suture lines are carefully placed so they will naturally blend with your face and fade with time.
