Pride Month 2024
Our colleague Lara Kyslun-Young shares her experience in the LGBT+ community after one year of marriage.
Pride Month is the whole month of June which is dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ communities all around the world. It’s about people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far gay rights have come, even if in some places there is still work to be done.
Working for a company and within a team who accepts and supports you is such a huge thing for us, and it makes me so proud to work for Phoenix Hospital Group.
My wife and I have reached our first wedding anniversary (10 June) and what a great year it has been! We got married in Lavenham, Suffolk, after being together for seven years.
We have been so lucky that our journey has been supported by our families and loved ones. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same support at home. There are lots of ways to support LGBTQ+ people and to provide a safe space for them, where they can be themselves. Having that good support network is key.
We love being part of and supporting our local city Pride and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone at Colchester Pride in August!
