Director of Clinical Services / Matron
Location: Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford / One Hatfield Hospital
Hours: 37.5 per week, flexible shifts Monday to Friday with on-call commitment.
Salary: Competitive – dependent on skillset and experience.
Travel Requirements: This position requires regular travel to Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford (Essex) and One Hatfield Hospital (Hertfordshire). The successful candidate should be prepared to travel regularly to both sites to support and lead the clinical teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen across Phoenix Hospital Chelmsford and One Hatfield Hospital for a highly motivated, dynamic and forward thinking individual to take up the Director of Clinical Services / Matron role.
As part of the Senior Management Team, you will provide leadership and management for the clinical teams of the hospital.
The Director of Clinical Services / Matron is a key role within the hospital and oversees all the clinical governance that underpins the safety and quality of the hospital. You will have excellent clinical skills, be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the application of clinical governance and have strong analytical skills. There will be an element of cross site working and decision making skills must be demonstrated. You will have an excellent understanding of safeguarding practices and be committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all patients and staff.

Director of Clinical Services / Matron
As our Director of Clinical Services / Matron you will be responsible for the management of the Clinical Teams from wards to theatres to AHP disciplines. You do not need experience in leadership of these specific departments, but clinical experience is required.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership to all clinical staff (Nursing, Allied Health, Medical staff).
- Ensuring delivery of exceptional standards of care, patient safety and clinical effectiveness, you will continually seek to drive improvements to services.
- Maximising the financial and operational performance of the hospital, whilst ensuring provision of safe, effective, caring and responsive patient care.
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of safeguarding principles and practices, ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals.
Key skills and experience required:
- Valid NMC/HCPC/GPhC with clinical experience
- Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional
- Commercially astute with experience in financial management, strategic development of clinical services
- Solid experience in leading clinical teams, ideally across multiple departments
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Fully aware of CQC legislation/standards
- Understanding of service re-design, clinical pathways and system reform
- Commercial experience
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to patient safety.
