Role:  Clinical Governance Nurse

Location:  Harley Street

Contract: Permanent, full-time

 

Phoenix Hospital Group is a dynamic, fast growing independent hospital group which currently operates two hospitals in central London and Essex and two Harley Street outpatient and diagnostic centres.

We are currently looking for  Clinical Governance Nurse to join our team.

Role Purpose:

  • To play a participative and active role in ensuring clinical departments provide safe, high quality patient centric care.
  • To ensure compliance with health and safety, quality, governance, policies and procedure.
  • Working with colleagues, ensure clinical departments achieve compliance to internal audits and internal and external inspections (including CQC).
  • Act as a guide for ensuring all services are legally registered within the statutory and regulatory frameworks and are meeting the CQC essential standards and outcomes.
  • To be a proactive member of the Clinical Governance department and to participate in projects and tasks as required.
  • To act as an ambassador for Phoenix Hospital Group with Consultants, Staff, patients and visitors.
  • Develop and regularly review Phoenix Hospital Group policies and procedures
  • Manage internal system where policies are held and review policies that are expiring
  • Working with the Operational team and Management Committee, ensuring PHG delivers best in class clinical governance and risk management priorities across Phoenix Hospital Group.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance on all aspects of quality and risk, including establishing audit processes to monitor the effectiveness of quality and risk systems.
  • Coordinating and supporting the delivery of the clinical audit programme.
  • Providing support to the clinical team on matters relating to such areas as risk and incident management, clinical governance, regulatory compliance, complaints resolution and health and safety.
  • Implementation of the Risk Management Strategy, and as such will advocate and sponsor risk control and prevention strategies that integrate risk management consideration into everyday management.
  • To ensure that processes to seek out patient satisfaction are fully embedded within the organisation and results are fully utilised to improve services through continual audit and monitoring.
  • To work with others to ensure PHIN compliance and ensure this is used to showcase Phoenix Hospital Group and its Consultants.
  • To undertake serious incident reviews in a timely, unbiased and professional way liaising with others as needs be.
  • To play a leading role in the maintenance, interrogation and use of the Sentinel incident reporting system including ensuring incidents are closed with appropriate learning where relevant.
  • To maintain the Company and departmental risk registers.
  • To prepare papers for the Clinical Governance Committee.
  • To prepare the quarterly clinical governance report and any other clinical governance reports that may be necessary to support the activities of the business.
  • To participate in the development of a strategy for clinical training including ensuring that a gap analysis is regularly undertaken to identify any additional training requirements.
  • To work with the training administration team to deliver clinical training to meet the needs of Phoenix Hospital Group.
  • To input into and attend the Resuscitation Committee and Infection Control Committees.
  • To liaise with other clinical services such as pre-assessment.
  • To manage external service providers as needs be.
  • To be involved in the management of complaints including undertaking root cause analysis of complaints, responding to complainants and guiding the business regarding learning from patient feedback and complaints.
  • To support where appropriate the delivery of a timely and efficient surgical pre-assessment service within Phoenix Hospital Group.
  • To liaise with the Medical Director and Responsible Officer as needs be.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role.

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications / Personal Attributes:

  • Must be a Registered General Nurse with recent clinical experience.
  • General clinical experience in an acute clinical setting.
  • Experience of involvement in Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Governance and risk management frameworks- desirable
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, including risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good financial awareness
  • Knowledge of NMC and HPC Codes and guidelines and their implications for practice.
  • Knowledge of the Health & Social Care Act and Care Quality Commission Requirements.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance tools
