Role: Accounts Assistant

The purpose of the role

We are currently looking for an Accounts Assistant to support the Phoenix group finance function by contributing to the management and financial reporting for the group.

About you

The successful candidate will be a strong team player with the ability to work flexibly and demonstrate tact and diplomacy. They will show a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure are essential as well as the ability to show commercial acumen and seek opportunities to maximise revenue and return on capital.  An organised and proactive individual to come in and hit the ground running as an Accounts Assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Banking at the bank
  • Posting AR receipts in SAGE and importing data into SAGE
  • Cash, Cheques and Card reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations, Intercompany reconciliations (5 sites)
  • Post and process journal entries for cash not related to AP/AR
  • Post of intercompany transactions
  • Raise monthly Rent room invoices (1 site)
  • Post Business Credit Card transactions & Upper Management Expenses Reimbursement
  • Work out Radiologists monthly report and post the Invoices (1 site)
  • Work with our Financial Manager to ensure accuracy in reporting
  • Assist with the Management account of 1 site
  • Assist with the annual statutory audit and ensure rigorous processes are followed throughout the year to result in a positive audit outcome
  • Assist with all other administrative duties and processing documentation, being a proactive and helpful member of the small Finance team
  • Support Finance Manager and CFO on adhoc projects
  • Assist with the Management Reporting Pack

Required skills & experience

  • Experience of working with SAGE
  • Good knowledge of accounting processes
  • Strong double entry bookkeeping knowledge (essential)
  • Previous finance experience is essential
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • AAT qualified or equivalent Accounting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Be self-directed and motivated, with the ability to identify solutions not just problems
  • Be comfortable working in a face paced environment to meet deadlines.
  • Approach your work with a positive attitude being professional and contributing to good team dynamics.
  • Positive and collegiate approach
